Dawex invited to IDATE DigiWorld Summit

The 40th edition of IDATE DigiWorld Digiworld Summit was held on November 28 at the Maison de la Mutualité in Paris, under the high patronage of Emmanuel Macron, President of France.

Dawex had the honor of being invited to this major event in the digital and technology landscape.

The Digiworld event has been a key gathering place for experts in the telecoms, Internet, and media sectors. Focusing on "Phygital: clients and usages underlying a new global model," the 2018 edition seeks to study the evolution of usages as well as the new needs of clients, users, and the general public in order to better understand the ties between the physical environment and digital technologies.

In that context, Dawex co-founder Fabrice Tocco had the opportunity to meet and speak with several leading personalities and experts, including Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani (General Director of the French Banking Federation), Vincent Peng (President of Huawei's Eastern European Division), Ramon Fernandez (Delegate Chief Executive Officer Finance, Performance, and Europe for Orange), and Laurent Giovachini (Deputy General Director of Sopra Steria and President of the Syntec Federation).

As a data expert, the Dawex CEO reiterated the fact that data monetization and exchange are among the new usages that are impacting relations between companies, institutions, and individuals.

The data economy first needs to be structured and, above all, made secure. It is therefore essential to coordinate the data exchange process, as will be the case in Japan with the Data Trading Alliance, an initiative that seeks to speed up the organization of data flows between private companies, public organizations, and the research sector.

Furthermore, on a European level, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was necessary, as it clarifies the framework for exchanging and using personal data in Europe, while also building trust for organizations in the data economy.

According to Fabrice Tocco, “the regulations currently being developed are intended to clarify the rules of the game.” The message should reassure company directors with respect to the new regulations.

The presence of Dawex, a data marketplace operator, is a sign of the growing maturity of economic stakeholders on the topic of data exchange.
