Datapitch: looking back at 2017

Data Pitch: 2017 project list

With Data Pitch, Europe wants to encourage business relations between large groups and young innovative startups involved with the data field. Our look at the challenges of 2017 and the launch of a new call-for-projects in 2018.

What is Data Pitch?

Data Pitch is a program in the Horizon 2020 framework funded by the European Commission. Its goal is to facilitate collaboration between established businesses and startups by enabling companies to resolve data-related challenges together.

Europe is dedicating resources to the effort. Funding of €7 million was recently allocated to finance projects and events concerning data for four years.

Operating principle

Large companies wanting to participate in the project make their data available and define their challenges, giving startups and SMEs an opportunity to respond. The only condition is that companies must be registered businesses in Europe.

For the first call-for-projects in 2017, five large European companies participated by providing their data.

The new call-for-projects will be launched on July 1, 2018 and will remain open until October 1, 2018.
