Trusted Data Transaction standardization is underway

Trusted Data Transaction standardisation is underway! As a member of the French delegation, Dawex was pleased to bring its expertise & contribute to the CEN JTC25 - Joint Technical Committee 3rd Plenary Meeting, on Data Management, Data Spaces, Cloud and Edge, hosted by the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute in Delft, Netherlands on May 21-23 2025, along with 13 other country delegations & representatives of the European Commission.

JTC 25’s mission is to develop standards to support the widespread adoption of digitalization and the establishment of a fully functioning Single Digital Market for the EU. The work will help reduce compliance costs and market entry barriers, enhance innovation & competitiveness, facilitate seamless Data Exchange, ensure interoperability, and create business opportunities.

Three dedicated sessions advanced the development of the Trusted Data Transaction harmonised European Standard requested by the European Commission, under Data Spaces Working Group 2.

This future standard builds upon the work of the @CEN pre-standardisation Workshop on Trusted Data Transaction and consists of three parts:

  • Part 1: Definitions, concepts & mechanisms
  • Part 2: Trustworthiness requirements
  • Part 3: Interoperability requirements

Trust and Interoperability are the backbones of Data Exchange and Data Sharing. Without trust, data exchanges are limited and cannot scale. This standardisation effort directly supports the implementation of the EU Trusted Data Framework, introduced by the European Commission as one of the Top 10 priority actions in the 2024 Union Work Programme for European Standardisation, specifically to support the implementation of the Data Act and its Article 33. As a harmonised standard, it will give rise to a presumption of conformity with the regulation.

It is through collaborative and consensus-based work that such a diverse group of experts - from corporate, research, academic, and associative domains - makes the Data Act truly operational, with standards that embed trust and interoperability.
